1 December 2009 An Evening with Austin Mitchell MP
7.30 in the Dourdan Pavilion, Great Dunmow
We will serve a light supper from 7.30, with refreshments. After a short introduction and welcome by our Chairman Jenny Oliveira, and our PPC Barbara Light, Austin will talk to us about his interest in housing issues, and especially council housing. This is a topic which the CLP is very much concerned with, and we hope you will join us to hear Austin’s views and discuss them with him afterwards.
Austin Mitchell is well known as a hardworking and outspoken backbench MP, who is reluctant to toe any party line which he does not himself subscribe to. He has been MP for Grimsby since 1977 – long before New Labour! His lively weblog states his belief in ‘equality, public spending and state intervention in the economy and in markets and in full employment, which is basic to socialism’. (www.austinmitchell.org)
Please bring along other guests who would like to hear Austin speak, whether or not they are Labour Party members. The cost is £5 per person, payable on the evening, to include the supper. You can pay this on the night, but it would help with catering if you could let Jenny Oliveira know if you are coming: 01279 850348, jenniferoliveira@mac.com.
